To commemorate its 45 years of
service to the community, Tolland Junior Women recently made a significant
donation to Roots of Development, through the purchase of a framed photograph
of the newly formed Women’s Group for the Development and Advancement of Gran
Sous, Haiti. This photograph was
selected to celebrate the important contributions that women can make to their
communities worldwide.
Roots of Development was established by Chad Bissonnette,
a former Tolland resident, to help impoverished communities in Haiti obtain the
resources they need to sustainably manage their own development, using a
community-driven approach to selection, planning and implementation of
projects.
The
photograph was taken by Braden Summers on a recent trip to Gran Sous to help
further the efforts of Roots of Development, and document the spirit of the
community.
